Our Door Replacement Process
1. Check the Door and Opening
Jeff measures the opening and checks the frame, threshold, swing direction and surrounding trim. You can discuss the style of door you want, the hardware, and whether the existing frame can be retained.
2. Remove the Old Door
The old door is removed and the opening is prepared for the replacement. If removing the frame or trim reveals damaged wood, Jeff explains what needs attention before continuing.
3. Fit the Replacement and Hardware
The new door is fitted and adjusted for an even gap and smooth operation. Hinges, handles and locks are installed or refitted as appropriate, and the latch is checked against the strike plate. Exterior doors also need attention to the threshold and weather seals.
4. Finish and Check the Operation
Agreed trim, caulking and finishing work completes the opening. Jeff checks that the door opens, closes and locks properly, cleans up the work area, and walks through the finished installation with you.
