Willoughby Hills - Exterior Trim, Soffit and Rot Repair
The wood trim around this Willoughby Hills garage door had rotted, and the paint had peeled down to bare wood. Another coat of paint would not have repaired the damaged material underneath. The project called for removing the deteriorated trim and replacing it with PVC before finishing the surround.

The Ask
The garage door surround needed more than a cosmetic refresh. The existing wood was rotted and the peeling finish exposed the damaged trim. The goal was to replace that material and leave the entrance looking clean and complete.
Removing the Rotted Trim
The damaged wood trim was removed rather than painted over or covered up. Taking out the deteriorated sections made room for replacement trim around the existing garage door.
Replacing the Wood with PVC
New PVC trim replaced the rotted wood around the opening. PVC does not rot like wood, making it a practical choice for this exterior surround. The replacement restored the outline of the garage entrance without leaving the old damaged trim underneath.
Caulking and Painting
Once the new trim was in place, it was caulked and painted. Those finishing steps gave the garage door surround a clean, consistent appearance and completed the transition from peeling, deteriorated wood to finished PVC trim.
The Result
The wood trim around this garage door had rotted and peeled down to bare wood. We removed the damaged trim and replaced it with rot-proof PVC trim, caulked and painted for a clean, lasting finish.
