Drywall & Ceiling Repair in Lake County, OH
A stained ceiling, a crack along a seam, or a hole left behind after plumbing work can make an otherwise finished room feel incomplete. Lake County Handymen repairs damaged drywall walls and ceilings by removing damaged material, installing new drywall where needed, and carefully mudding and sanding the repair to create a smooth, even surface.
Once the repair is ready, we prime and paint the area to help it blend with the surrounding wall or ceiling. Whether you're dealing with water stains, holes, cracks, or damaged drywall, Jeff Vojtko personally quotes and carries out the work throughout Willoughby, Mentor, and Lake County.
What We Repair
- Nail holes, screw pops, dents and doorknob damage
- Larger holes and openings left after plumbing or electrical access
- Cracked drywall joints, loose tape and damaged corner bead
- Localized ceiling cracks and damaged drywall sections
- Water-damaged walls and ceilings after the moisture source is resolved
- Texture matching, sanding, priming and painting as agreed in the estimate
Our Drywall and Ceiling Repair Process
1. Assess the Damage
Jeff checks the damaged area, the surrounding surface and the finish you want. A stain or recurring crack may point to a problem that needs attention before patching. The estimate covers the proposed repair, access and agreed finishing work.
2. Prepare and Patch
Floors and nearby furnishings are protected. Loose or damaged material is removed, and replacement drywall or a supported patch is fitted where needed. For water damage, the source must be resolved and the area dry before the repair proceeds.
3. Tape, Finish and Match the Texture
Joints are taped and finished with compound, allowing drying time between coats. The patch is sanded and the existing texture is matched as closely as practical. Larger repairs may require more than one visit.
4. Prime, Paint and Check the Result
Primer and painting complete the agreed scope. Jeff checks the finished repair with you and cleans up the work area. If touch-up paint will not blend well, repainting the wall or ceiling can be discussed before the work starts.
Before and After: Ceiling and Wall Repairs
Textured ceiling repair and a patched drywall opening.
The top pair in the photo shows a stained, damaged textured ceiling before and after repair. The bottom pair shows a rectangular opening in a red wall patched and finished to blend with the surrounding wall. Both examples show why the surface finish matters as much as filling the damaged area.
Every repair has its own scope. The size of the patch, condition of the surrounding material, texture and painting requirements all affect your free estimate.
Water Damage and Recurring Cracks
Painting over a stain does not fix an active leak, and filling a crack does not correct ongoing movement. Jeff can assess the visible damage and explain the surface repair, but the underlying cause needs to be addressed first. Suspected mold, structural problems or extensive hidden damage may require a specialist before drywall finishing can begin.
Painting After the Repair
A patch can stand out if the surrounding paint has faded or the texture is different. Jeff discusses touch-ups versus repainting the whole wall or ceiling as part of the estimate. See Interior Painting for room painting and finishing work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you repair both walls and ceilings?
Yes. Jeff repairs drywall holes, cracks, damaged seams and localized ceiling damage, including the patching and finishing needed to blend the repair with the surrounding surface.
Can you repair a water-damaged ceiling?
Jeff can assess stained or damaged ceiling drywall. The leak must be stopped and the affected area allowed to dry before the surface is repaired. Soft or deteriorated drywall may need replacement rather than a coat of paint. If the damage needs specialist attention, that should be addressed before finishing.
Can you match the existing texture?
Jeff assesses the existing finish and works to blend the repaired area with it. Texture, lighting and old paint can affect how closely a patch matches; the approach is discussed before work begins.
Does the repair include painting?
The estimate sets out the agreed patching, finishing, priming and painting. Touch-ups may suit some repairs, while repainting the entire wall or ceiling can give a more consistent result where the existing paint is aged or faded.
How much does drywall or ceiling repair cost?
The price depends on the size and condition of the damaged area, ceiling height, access, texture and finishing work. There is no single flat price for every repair. Contact Jeff for a free estimate based on your project.
Who will quote and carry out the repair?
Jeff Vojtko owns and operates Lake County Handymen and personally quotes, schedules and does the work. The business has been operating since 2023 and is fully insured.
